This is probably the most useful page in here. It is a collection of resources you can have on your phone to carry all the useful info in your pocket, as recommended by current F1s (Note that it’s important to check against local guidelines):

  • ATSP - App if you have an android phone, or you can download a PDF if using iOS. Useful information and tips about a multitude of commonly encountered clinical scenarios.
  • BNF app
  • Induction - Free sign-up required. A directory for most of the numbers in the hospital. Invaluable for saving time not waiting for switchboard.
  • MDCalc - Every medical calculator you can think of, from creatinine clearance to WELLS.
  • PocketDr - Checklist and flow-chart based app for acute conditions.
  • Oxford handbook (PDF download)
  • BMJ best practice - Up to date evidence-based information. Requires a subscription, which you can get via Athens through the Trust.
  • Geeky medics - Clinical skills videos and information.
  • Opioid calculator - For conversions between different opioids.
  • Blood components - Guidelines from the NHS Blood and Transplant Service.
  • IResus - All the algorithms and guidelines from the Resuscitation Council.
  • TOXBASE - Information on management of overdose. Free access with an NHS email address.
